FDA getting cold feet about the possibility of an emergency use authorization for SARS-CoV-2 vaccine

Good article discussing the valid concerns of the FDA offering an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for a covid-19 vaccine.

It is important for and safe and effective vaccine to be made available as soon as it is determined so, but it is important for us to acknowledge the uncertainty in such cases and ensure we gather enough info to have more full confidence if this is going to be used at a population level long term

Like lots of things in this pandemic, it is a matter of assessing trade offs among competing concerns, deciding between courses of action that each have their own downside.

But I am encouraged the FDA is publicly putting out this perspective.

As always, thanks so much, Jeff, for sharing and keeping us informed. The article addresses very real and valid questions about the potential downsides of emergency use authorization.
