A paper just published in top journal Nature Medicine presents results from a well-designed study randomly assigning people infected with (1) SARS-CoV-2, (2) flu or (3) rhinovirus (cold) to wear a mask or not and then measured viral shedding from respiratory droplets (large drops) or aerosols (small drops).
Basic conclusion: THE MASK DID NOT ALLOW THE VIRUS TO SPREAD!
No matter how awkward you feel, please everyone just wear a mask in public. If we do this, we can significantly control the spread without having to resort to lockdowns that cause so much collateral damage! I know this is not culturally normal for Americans, but we need to change that!
